"an" EXPERIENCE

John Dewey's pedagogical theory is rooted in quality experience and education. From According to Dewey’s perspective, there was a difference in ordinary experience and “am” experience. The difference between the two lies in the quality and depth of engagement. Ordinary experience refers to the day-to-day routine we experience that might not involve much reflection or active engagement; or unintentional. Unexamined events that happen without much thought or learning.

"An" experience, on the other hand, is a more intentional and reflective encounter. This involves active engagement with the environment, problems or challenges that require thought and reflection that will lead to a deeper understanding or learning for learners. Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing platform that allows individuals and organizations to host and attend virtual meetings, webinars, video chats, and online collaborations. Zoom has emerging technological components that creates an educative experience is similar Deweyan perspective. For example, if we were to use assign students a project-based learning assign to create your own website to bring awareness to the crisis scare global school supplies, this would provide the pedagogy affordance of problem solving, team building, hands on interaction and more. If students had the ability to use Zoom as a means of communication, that could collaborate with globally with another school to have “an” experience that can bridge cultural, linguistic and geographical boundaries.
