GOALS: Steps in the right direction

As If you have been following my journey throughout post, you'll see that I am exploring a new skillset I the field of EdTech. My professor asked us to share some of our personal goals. While brainstorming ideas, I noticed my professional goal were aligned with my interested in educational technology and digital tools (personal goals) I’m setting clear goals to grow in areas that matter most to me: AI prompting, digital storytelling, and professional networking. Each goal includes specific action steps and a timeline to help me stay on track and measure my progress. Some of these goal will take a bit more time and strategy. My deadline for completing all these goals is July 31, 2025.


SMART Goal 1: Strengthen My Skill Set in AI Prompting

I plan to improve my ability to craft effective prompts for AI tools by practicing regularly and learning from tutorials.

Action Steps:

  1. April 2025: Sign up for a free ChatGPT and Notion AI account.
  2. April–May 2025: Watch 3 YouTube tutorials or read 3 blog posts on prompt engineering.
  3. May 2025: Practice writing 20 different prompts for real-world tasks (e.g., email drafting, brainstorming, lesson planning).
  4. June 2025: Reflect on what worked well, document best practices, and share a few takeaways in a short blog or LinkedIn post.
  5. July 2025: Create a mini guide or visual prompt library for personal use.

Timeline: Complete by July 31st, 2025

 

SMART Goal 2: Explore and Practice with Digital Storytelling Platforms

I plan to familiarize myself with at least three digital storytelling platforms and create sample projects to build hands-on experience.

Action Steps:

  1. April 2025: Make a list of popular digital storytelling tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, Genially, StoryMapJS).
  2. May 2025: Choose 3 platforms to explore based on ease of use and educational potential.
  3. May–June 2025: Watch tutorials for each platform and create 1 short project in each (e.g., a story map, infographic, or narrated slideshow).
  4. July 2025: Compare platforms in a quick write-up—highlighting which ones best suit my work.

Timeline: Complete by July 31, 2025


SMART Goal 3: Build My Professional Network in Ed Tech

I plan to connect with professionals in educational technology and join a relevant organization to grow my network.

Action Steps:

  1. April 2025: Update my LinkedIn profile to reflect my goals and interests in ed tech.
  2. April–June 2025: Reach out to 2–3 professionals per month in technology or education (goal: 10 total).
  3. May 2025: Ask 2 people for an informational chat or email exchange to learn from their experience.
  4. June 2025: Research and choose 1 professional ed tech organization to join (e.g., ISTE, CoSN, EdTech Digest).
  5. July 2025: Attend at least 1 virtual event or webinar through the organization and participate in a discussion or forum.

Timeline: Complete by July 31, 2025
